Competency-Based Education (CBE) and the admission of Grade 10 learners in 2026
The visit to Moi Girls Vokoli was organized to:
Understand strategies being employed to align infrastructure, staffing, curriculum, and stakeholder engagement with the CBC framework. Assess the school’s preparedness for the rollout of CBE at the senior secondary level.
Draw lessons that will support our institution’s transition planning for Grade 10 learners in 2026.
The team evaluated the following core areas:
a) Infrastructure Readiness
Moi Girls Vokoli has made significant investments in science laboratories, ICT rooms, and workshops.
Classrooms are being remodeled to accommodate the three pathways: STEM, Arts and Sports, and Social Sciences.
The school has plans for expanding boarding and sanitation facilities to cater to an increased student population.
b) Curriculum and Pathway Preparation
The school has developed a CBE-aligned strategic plan, outlining how the three senior secondary pathways will be implemented.
Efforts are underway to train teachers in project-based learning, learner profiling, and continuous assessment techniques.
c) Teacher Capacity and Staffing
Moi Girls Vokoli has established a professional development program to equip teachers with skills relevant to CBE.
Some teachers have already undergone MoE and KICD training on curriculum implementation and assessment under CBC.
d) Career Guidance and Learner Support
The school runs a career department that helps guide learners based on interests, abilities, and pathway opportunities.
There is strong parental involvement in helping learners make informed pathway choices.
e) Resource Mobilization and Partnerships
Moi Girls Vokoli has partnered with local industries, universities, and alumni to support STEM and TVET-based learning.
ICT integration is supported through partnerships with NGOs and corporate sponsors.
